How to put a QR code on a flyer or poster

Give the code one job

A landing page, a signup form, a Maps pin, or a ticket link — not all four. Write a four-word label next to it.

Size it for the viewing distance

About one tenth of how far away people stand. A hand-held flyer can be 2 cm; a bus-stop poster needs 20 cm or more.

Export SVG and keep contrast

Dark code on a light patch, with a clear quiet zone. Colored paper is fine if the code sits on a white box.

QR codes for flyers and posters FAQ

How big should a QR code be on a flyer?
On a hand-held flyer, about 2 cm (0.8 in) across is the floor. On a poster, divide the viewing distance by ten — 2 m away needs a 20 cm code. Always test a printed proof, not the screen.
PNG or SVG for a print flyer?
SVG. It is a vector, so the printer can scale it without blur. Use PNG only for a digital PDF that will never be enlarged.
Can I put it on colored paper?
Yes, if the code itself sits on a light, high-contrast patch. A dark-red flyer with a dark-violet code on top is the usual failure.
Can I change the link after the flyers are printed?
No — the code is static. Point it at a page you control so you can change the offer without reprinting.
